Biden visited the American Job Center facility with Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez. The vice president met with workers before speaking on the importance of job development programs in New Hampshire and across the country.
Biden mentioned the success of the on-the-job training program that offers a partnership between government and private business. The training program reimburses a company for the cost of training a new employee.
He said there is a definite need for skilled workers and people who have successfully completed on-the-job training programs. Biden said six out of 10 jobs in the next decade are going to require some education beyond four years of high school.
“We have to train, we have to train for actual jobs and make sure people get placed in those jobs, because they exist and they’re coming home,” Biden said.
