Salem School Board has a new chairman
SALEM — During his year as chairman of the school board, Bernard Campbell helped oversee a successful push for a $75 million high school renovation plan as well as the passage of five new union contracts.
At Tuesday night’s re-organizational board meeting, the rest of the board thanked Campbell for his service as chairman and unanimously elected Patricia Corbett to serve in that role over the coming year.
“We’ve finished a year that has been very busy,” said Campbell. “It will be my great pleasure to have (Corbett) succeed and lead us forward over the next year. She has been very helpful over the last year, especially with the changes to the superintendent evaluation process.”
Corbett praised Campbell for his leadership over the past year.
“I think the community has a lot of faith in you as a member of this board,” said Corbett.
Campbell said he looks forward to working with Corbett on the school board as well as seeing the progress of the high school renovation project over the coming three years.
“As a graduate of Salem High School, I can’t begin to say how happy I was that that passed,” Campbell said.
