Acworth man hurt in crash

ACWORTH — A local man was seriously injured Tuesday when his truck went off Hill Road and down an embankment, state police said.

Michael Blake, 65, was heading south on Hill Road in his 1986 GMC pickup truck about 8:20 a.m. Tuesday when he lost control, hit a guardrail, went over the guardrail and down an embankment. The cab of the truck detached from the frame and rolled farther down the hill and Blake was trapped inside, police said.

Police said the crash appears to have been caused by defective equipment, but did not elaborate.

He was rescued by firefighters and flown to Dartmouth-Hitchock Medical Center in Lebanon for treatment of what police said were serious injuries.
