Police make arrest following Londonderry home invasion

LONDONDERRY — A Derry man was arrested Friday after allegedly breaking into a Wilson Road home and pointing a gun at a mother and her young child.

Police were called to the area shortly before noontime on Friday, after a resident called them and reported seeing a man walking up to a residence in his neighborhood while wearing a mask and plastic bags over his shoes.

The caller reported hearing a woman screaming in the distance as he witnessed the suspect “tuck something into his waistband, possibly a gun,” according to Detective Christopher Olson. Londonderry officers were immediately deployed to the neighborhood, where they were told by witnesses that the suspect had entered a nearby residence wielding a gun and ordering the mother and child into a room. “It appears the suspect rummaged around the house for a few moments before running from the scene,” Olson said.Police stopped a suspect’s vehicle matching the neighbors’ description on Old Manchester Road in Derry a short time later. Upon further inspection a loaded firearm was found inside the car. Joshua Magee, 29, of Derry was consequently arrested and charged with burglary, armed robbery, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and criminal restraint.Magee is being held on $50,000 cash bail and is due to appear in Derry Circuit Court on Monday, April 7.
