A former press secretary to Republican senatorial candidate Scott Brown has signed on as campaign manager in Brown’s bid to unseat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
Colin Reed, who has been fielding questions about “Bridgegate” as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s deputy communications manager, was already on his new job Friday, touring with Brown in the western part of the state.
As part of the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2010, Reed worked on Brown’s upset win in a special election in Massachusetts to serve the final three years of the term of the late Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy, and came on as spokesman.
He was Brown’s 2012 campaign communications director in his ill-fated bid to keep the seat, which he ultimately lost to Harvard Law School professor and consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren.Reed was deputy press secretary at the GOP Senatorial Committee from 2009 to 2010, and worked on the Mitt Romney and the John McCain presidential campaigns in 2007 and 2008.He started as an intern in then-Gov. Romney’s Statehouse press office in 2006.“I’ve known Scott for more than four years,” he said. “An opportunity to work with him again is something I couldn’t pass up. I am excited for the next seven months and a victory in November.”
