Jimenez leads Fisher Cats past Trenton


 

Catcher A.J. Jimenez collected three hits and drove in two runs to help the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeat the Trenton Thunder, 7-3, Friday night at Trenton's Arm & Hammer Park.

Deck McGuire picked up the win by pitching 5 1/3 innings. He held Trenton to three hits and one unearned run. He struck out three and walked one.

It was McGuire's 58th start with the Fisher Cats, which is the most by a pitcher in the club's history.

New Hampshire, which raised its record to 2-0, scored two runs in the second, three in the third and one in both the fifth and sixth innings. Jimenez opened the scoring with a two-run double in the third.

Right fielder Brad Glenn, second baseman Jon Berti and designated hitter Yusuf Carer each had two hits for the Fisher Cats, who had 12 hits in the victory. Berti also drove in two runs.

Trenton's Jeremy Bleich struck out seven in four innings, but took the loss. He surrendered five runs (all earned) on five hits.

Designated hitter Zach Wilson, first baseman Francisco Arcia and shortstop Ali Castillo each had two hits for the Thunder (0-2).

Richard Bleier (1 2/3 innings), Gregory Infante (one inning) and John Anderson (one inning) all pitched in relief for the Fisher Cats. Infante allowed three hits and two runs. He walked one.

The teams play again Saturday at 5 p.m.
