April 05. 2014 7:57PM

PITTSBURG - A Concord man's head was impaled by a stick in a snowmobile accident on Saturday, authorities said.

New Hampshire Fish and Game said Joshua Carlson, 34, fell off his snowmobile and hit a tree while riding off-trail around 4:30 p.m. Carlson and members of the group he was riding with were able to ride from the accident scene to a camp on Stevens Hill Road and call for help, conservation officers said.

Carlson was taken to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook with serious injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
