Ayotte lends support to bill that gives companies incentive to hire vets
The Hire More Heroes Act (S. 2190) was introduced by Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., who also filed the bill as an amendment to the unemployment insurance legislation pending in the Senate.
The bill would allow employers to exempt employees who already have health care coverage through TRICARE or the VA from counting as a full-time employee under Obamacare's employer mandate.
"It's deeply concerning that our veterans, who have sacrificed so much to protect our country's freedom, continue to face high unemployment and difficulty when looking for a job outside of the military," Ayotte said. "This legislation will incentivize small businesses to hire veterans by exempting veterans from being counted towards the employer mandate's 50 full-time employee threshold."
The bill is supported by the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States and the Retired Enlisted Association.
