John Lackey pitched seven strong innings and Jackie Bradley Jr. finished with three hits and two RBIs as the Boston Red Sox snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers on Monday night at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox posted their first home victory of the season following a weekend sweep by Milwaukee, getting three hits apiece from A.J. Pierzynski and Mike Napoli. Lackey (2-0) stranded the tying run at third in the seventh, finishing with one run allowed on five hits with five strikeouts.

Tanner Scheppers (0-1) allowed two runs on nine hits in five innings as the Rangers lost for the third time in four games. Alex Rios and Shin-Soo Choo finished with two hits each for Texas.

Boston’s Xander Bogaerts reached on a one-out infield single in the second and scored on Bradley’s two-out single to center. The Rangers tied the contest in the fourth, Adrian Beltre reaching on a one-out single and scoring on Mitch Moreland’s sacrifice fly to center.
Pierzynski and Jonathan Herrera hit back-to-back singles with one out in the bottom of the fourth, and Bradley followed with a single into left-center to plate Pierzynski and push Boston ahead 2-1. Bradley’s bunt single and Prince Fielder’s error in the eighth gave the Red Sox a 3-1 advantage, and Boston added runs on Daniel Nava’s single and Dustin Pedroia’s fielder’s choice.
Notes: The Red Sox did substantial damage in the seven, eight and nine spots in the lineup, Pierzynski, Herrera and Bradley combining to go 7-for-10. … Texas manager Ron Washington unsuccessfully challenged a ruling on David Ortiz’s fielder’s choice in the first inning, on which Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus bobbled the ball as he tried to tag the base ahead of Nava. … Rios stole his first base of the season; he swiped 42 bases last season.
