21 arrested in illegal alien roundup in NH

Federal authorities announced Wednesday that they have arrested 21 criminal aliens and immigration fugitives in New Hampshire during a month-long operation last month.

According to a news release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, "Operation Cross Check" targeted illegal aliens who previously had been deported but re-entered the United States.

The arrests were made in the Manchester, Nashua, Rochester and Lebanon areas, according to ICE, which was assisted by officers from Manchester police and Strafford County Sheriff's Department.
Of the 21 individuals arrested, 17 had re-entered the U.S. illegally after previous deportation, and 10 had prior criminal convictions, including for assault, larceny, domestic violence, burglary, drug possession and shoplifting.
At least nine of those arrested face federal charges, according to ICE. Someone convicted of felony re-entry faces up to 20 years in prison.
The names of those arrested were not immediately available.
The operation was spearheaded by ICE's National Fugitive Operations Program. The Fugitive Operations Support Center in South Burlington, Vt., provided assistance in conducting database checks on the targeted individuals.
