Hanover man arrested after incident in Dartmouth president's office

HANOVER - David Vincelette, 57, of Hanover, was arrested Monday after police responded to a report of a man who was out of control at the office of the Dartmouth College president.

Vincelette was charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault after the college's security officers said he assaulted the director of the Dartmouth College Department of Safety & Security.

Officers from the Dartmouth College Department of Safety & Security and Hanover Police Department responded to Parkhurst Hall, where the president’s office is located, at 12:45 p.m.
Hanover Police Capt. Francis Moran said when he arrived, Vincelette was out of control and threatening. The incident is still under investigation, he said.

Vincelette was escorted from the building and taken to the Hanover Police Department. He was later released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail.

He is set to appear in the 2nd Circuit Court, Lebanon District Division, May 19 to be arraigned on the charges.

Vincelette was also served a Dartmouth College trespass letter that prohibits his future presence on Dartmouth College property, police said.

This is the second time in a week Vincelette has been arrested by Hanover police. On Thursday he was arrested at a worksite on Gile Drive and charged with disorderly conduct for interfering with an asphalt-grinding operation that involved town and contracted workers. Moran said Vincelette opposes the use of the recycled asphalt.

On that charge, he was released to appear in district court on May 5.
