Deadline extended for startup competition in Rochester
Participants in the second annual Start Up 2014 Competition have a chance to win more than $31,000 in cash and assistance.
“We will allow a ‘grace period’ until Friday, unofficially,” Humphries said Tuesday.
“We have quite a few in the pipeline,” Humphries said, adding judges want to ensure applicants have thought out the whole idea, including determining the potential market.
Last year’s winner, Kinetic Surface Control of Newmarket, took advantage of the $20,000 prize from the inaugural Start Up Rochester competition to develop its idea for a water-based technology to strip paint and corrosion from metal, concrete or asphalt surfaces.
Humphries said the winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000, an interest-free loan of $10,000 from Strafford Economic Development Corp. of New Hampshire and a variety of services, including $2,500 in legal assistance, $2,500 for accounting, a $1,000 promotional package from the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce and $5,000 in free rent at the Gonic mill.
