I-93 crash under investigation

LONDONDERRY — State police are still investigating what caused Wednesday morning’s crash on Interstate 93, which sent a Penacook woman to a Boston hospital.

Annie Demirel, 62, was traveling northbound in her 2007 Nissan Sentra when she reportedly lost control of her vehicle, veering from right to left several times before rolling down the embankment, flipping over and crashing into several trees on the left side of the road, according to state police.

A northbound section of Interstate 93 was shut down for approximately a half-hour Wednesday morning as rescue crews prepared to transport Demirel to Tufts Medical Center via DHART helicopter.

Police described her injuries as serious, but not life-threatening.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, about a half-mile north of Exit 4 in Londonderry, near Mile Marker No. 13.

The highway was reopened shortly before 11 a.m., state Department of Transportation officials reported.

Londonderry Police Det. Christopher Olson said state police are handling the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information on the incident is encouraged to contact Trooper Larry Lundt at N.H. State Police Troop B at 223-4381.
