Sox rally in ninth to win

CHICAGO — David Ross singled home Mike Napoli in the ninth inning to give the Boston Red Sox a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox Thursday night.

Boston had been limited to one hit, a sixth-inning home run by Xander Bogaerts, until the ninth.

Napoli led off the ninth with an infield single off reliever Ronald Beilsario, pinch-hitter Mike Carp followed with another base hit and Ross drove home Napoli.

Daniel Nava was intentionally walked to load the bases and Jonathan Herrera bunted for a single to score pinch runner Grady Sizemore.

Lefty Jon Lester picked up the win for Boston, pitching eight innings, allowing seven hits and striking out nine.

Chris Sale was the tough-luck loser for Chicago, allowing only the one hit to Bogaerts and striking out 10 in 7 1/3 innings of work.
