Fisher Cats announcer selected from field of 800 to be voice of the Padres

Who said public address announcers can't be promoted from the minor leagues to the major leagues? It just happened to Alex Miniak of Manchester.

Miniak, the public address announcer for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, will now hold the same title for the San Diego Padres.

The official announcement was made by the Padres during Saturday's seventh-inning stretch in their game against the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park. The search started with over 800 candidates in January.

Miniak, also known as Alex James, is a senior account executive with Gigunda Group of Manchester. No official word on when Miniak will make his debut with the Padres.
