NHIAA Roundup: Londonderry, Central girls win

Julie Hamilton's sixth-inning pinch-hit two-run triple with one out lifted Londonderry to a 5-3 Division I softball win Monday at Concord. Hamilton ended up scoring on a groundout to short by teammate Shannon Crowley to complete the three-run rally.

Londonderry led 1-0 in the fourth inning when Melissa Sprague tripled home Samantha Harris. Concord answered with three runs in the home fourth, highlighted by RBI hits from Cassidy Emerson and Delanie Pickering. The Lancers scored their second run in the fifth inning. Colleen Lewis tripled and scored on a passed ball.

Londonderry starter Sprague gained the mound win allowing five hits and six walks over five innings. Reliever Leah Hunt garnered the save, allowing two bunt singles over the final two scoreless innings. Londonderry (2-1) had 11 hits, led by Lewis, Sprague and Sam Harris with two hits apiece.

Franklin 14, Bishop Brady 4: At Franklin, Golden Tornadoes hurler Kelsey Bird notched 10 strikeouts and her teammates provided 10 hits. Franklin scored five in the third inning, paced by a two-run double from freshman Hailey Haskins. Kat Styles added a two-run triple in the fifth.

Monadnock 9, Hinsdale 5: At Hinsdale, Felicia Gaillardetz struck out seven in the win and added three hits.

Dover 8, Bishop Guertin 3: At Nashua, Dover scored six runs in the second inning and improved its Division I record to 2-1. BG (2-1) received three hits and two RBIs from junior Holly Kathios.Timberlane 2, Pinkerton 0: At Plaistow, Kate Hoadley scattered six hits but kept Pinkerton Academy of Derry off the board in seven shutout innings. Christina Nye had two hits and an RBI for the Owls (4-0). Rachel Byrd had three hits for Pinkerton (2-1).

Manchester Central 7, Exeter 0: At Manchester, Sarah Lavallee threw a complete game two-hitter and drove in two runs to help her own cause. Emma Conant drove in three runs.

Campbell 5, Pelham 0: In Litchfield, winning pitcher Olivia Martinage allowed two hits and two walks with 15 strikeouts. Pelham pitcher Jordan Parece allowed 10 hits and two earned runs and two walks. She fanned eight. Campbell was led by Brittany McNulla with three hits. Gianna Tataldo, Lauren King and Amber Gibbons each drove in a run for the 3-1 Cougars. Pelham dropped to 2-1.


North 14 Winnacunnet 0: In Hampton, Zach Smith threw the first no-hitter in North history, recording four strikeouts and one walk along the way. Chuckie DeWitt collected three hits and four RBIs and Smith added three hits and three RBIs for 3-1 North. Winnacunnet dropped to 1-1.

Goffstown 8, ConVal 5: At Goffstown, Tanner Putnam held ConVal to one hit in six innings and also collected three hits at the plate to help the Grizzlies raise their Division II record to 2-1. Kyle Indingaro, Tyler Perron, Chris Hood and Ryan Pinard each had an RBI single in Goffstown's six-run first inning.

Lebanon 8, Pembroke 1: At Pembroke, Cam Broughton threw a complete game in the win for the visitors (1-0). Pembroke (1-2) was paced by Chris Gauss (triple) and James Fisher (RBI single).

Keene 3, Bishop Guertin 2: In Keene, winning pitcher Mason Blanchard went the distance and retired the last 10 batters. He fanned six and allowed five hits and no walks. Losing BG pitcher Jake Burbank also went the distance, six innings, allowing three runs. He gave up five hits, one walk and fanned three for 2-1 BG.

Steve Bianco had a key hit to highlight Keene's three-run third inning rally. BG got two back in the fourth inning. Shane Nowak singled before back-to-back doubles from Drew Sanborn and Tim Donovan. Keene raised its record to 3-1.

Timberlane 2, Pinkerton 0: At Derry, Sam Fay threw a complete game and slapped four hits to lead the way for the Owls (3-1) of Plaistow. Pinkerton's Connor Donahue pitched well in the loss.

Londonderry 14, Concord 2: At Londonderry, the Lancers scored all 14 runs over the first three innings to win going away. Londonderry (4-0) was led offensively by Mike Ryan with two hits and four RBIs. Rob Del Signore got the win on the mound, working all five innings. Concord dropped to 2-2.

Campbell 13, Pelham 6: In Litchfield, Bob Baril clouted a solo homer and a three-run homer to lead the 3-1 Cougars.

Connor Sahlin also had a two-run homer in the win. Jake Vaiknoras had a second inning grand slam to stake Pelham (1-2) out to a 6-0 lead.

Campbell's 17-hit attack was led by Baril and Christian Bourgea with three apiece. Sahlin, Kyle Manning, Austin Baker and Tyler Butler each had two hits.

Bedford 13, Salem 7: In Salem, Ryan Linehan led Bedford (1-3) with a two-run homer. Matt Meisner had a two-run single for 0-2 Salem.

Spaulding 1, Alvirne 0 (10 innings): In Hudson, Spaulding starter Josh Gagne threw a five-hitter over nine innings on 112 pitches, 74 for strikes. He fanned eight and walked five. In relief Andrew Barnes notched the save pitching the scoreless 10th. Alvirne starter Tyler Brown threw a one-hitter over five innings. Spaulding's Chris States scored the winning run from third on a wild pitch. Alvirne is 0-3 and Spaulding is 2-2.

Boys' lacrosse

Exeter 13, Souhegan 11: At Exeter, the Blue Hawks (1-2) held on in a tight contest throughout. Isaiah Thompson (four goals) and Buddy Carr (two goals, two assists) led the Exeter attack. Souhegan (2-2) was paced by Mack Walker (three goals, three assists), Mitch Hale (four goals) and Joe Nutting.

Londonderry 20, Manchester Memorial 2: At Londonderry, the Lancers (2-1) shut Memorial (0-2) out in two of four frames. Shayne Holland (three goals, assist), Kyle Hussey (three goals), Nick Yennaco (two goals, three assists), Brendan Wall (three goals) and Devin Brunet (three goals, assist) led LHS. Scoring for Memorial were Mike Kelher and Nicholas Burgess.

Pinkerton 12, Salem 4: At Derry, the host Pinkerton Academy Astros got three goals each from Evan Sweeney and Jake Lisauskas and two more from Brett Dattilo to improve to 3-1. Sean Delea added a goal and two assists. Salem (1-3) got goals from Matt Ayotte, Oliver Ouellet, Tim Craig and Kyle Svenson.

Girls' lacrosse

Souhegan 12, Exeter 11: At Amherst, the Sabers (2-1) edged Exeter (1-2) in a tight contest. Jesse Jay and Madison Learned (three goals each) paced Souhegan. Mickenzie Larivee added a goal and four assists.

Kelly Moran (five goals) and Kristina Keith (three goals) led Exeter.

Derryfield 17, Kingswood 8: In Wolfeboro, Polly Carter had six goals and Brynn Polgrean added five for 2-0 Derryfield. Polgrean had three assists and Emma Garfield added two goals. Nicole Mayer had two goals along with Madi Kochanek. Anna Fredrickson scored five times for Kearsarge. Derryfield goalie Cat Green turned back eight shots.
