House Committee votes to kill last gambling bill

CONCORD – The bill may be different, but the results were the same before the House Ways and Means Committee.

The committee voted 11-9 Tuesday to kill Senate Bill 366, which would have established two casinos with 5,000 video slot machines and 240 table games, which supporters say will produce about $150 million in annual revenue for the state, plus $120 million in licensing fees.

The committee vote was the same as another expanded gambling bill, House Bill 1633, which the House voted down last month by about 30 votes.

The House is expected to vote on SB 366 as early as next week, but more likely next month.
