Man's story about stab wound questioned by Laconia police

LACONIA - Detectives are trying to figure out how a 50-year-old man suffered a stab wound to his stomach.

The man, police said, is uncooperative and maintains he was injured after he had "fallen" on railroad tracks somewhere in the city. Investigators said his injury is not consistent with his story.

Police learned of the injured man, whose was not identified in a news release, in a call from the Lakes Region General Hospital emergency room, where the man went for treatment, just after midnight Tuesday. Emergency room staff told police the wound was consistent with a stab wound from a knife.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 524-5252 or the Greater Laconia Crime Line at 527-1717.
