P.J. Ross collected four hits to lead Sanborn Regional of Kingston to an 8-1 softball win against host Windham Thursday. Sanborn (4-0) took advantage of eight hits and five errors, scoring five unearned runs. Emily Comtois had a single and double for the 3-1 Jaguars.

Milford 15, Souhegan 13: In Amherst, Milford (3-1) led 10-1 after three innings and 11-5 after four innings. Carley Holtshouser made a game-ending catch for Milford in the bottom of the seventh with tying run on base. Milford collected 12 hits behind Catherine Paul with two hits and three RBIs and Julia Mazzeo with one hit and four RBIs. Jen Dupuis collected three hits and four RBIs. Souhegan (2-2) finished with 16 hits. Valarie Mukai had a grand slam inside-the-park homer in the fifth inning.

Goffstown 7, Pembroke 2: Haeli Campbell led the winners with a three-run homer on Wednesday.


Junior Shannon Murdock of Exeter set a school record in the mile, finishing seventh overall in 4:56.37 in the Penn Relays Thursday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

Murdock was in a field of 17 runners nationally.


Alvirne 12, Timberlane 2 (five inns.): In Hudson, winning pitcher Derek Hudson had two hits and four RBIs. On the mound, he fanned six and allowed three hits and walked three on 85 pitches. He picked off a runner for good measure. Dan Brown, Matt McKinley and Robbie Flohr led Alvirne (1-3) with two hits each.

Salem 2, Winnacunnet 1: In Salem, winning pitcher Matt Meisner allowed three hits over seven innings. He walked two and fanned nine. Meisner also drove in a run. Winnacunnet starter Connor MacHardy pitched well in defeat, allowing two hits over five innings. He fanned 11 batters.

ConVal 3, Hollis/Brookline 1 (Wednesday): Ivan Clough pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and one run.
Boys' lacrosse

Derryfield 18, Trinity 1: In Manchester, Mike Chiasson led the winners with six goals and four assists. Jimmy O'Brien followed with two goals and five assists for the 3-0 Cougars, who led 14-1 at halftime. Grant Alenson had two goals and three assists, Tyler Zorn had two goals and two assists and, Griffin Phaneuf and Peter Thompson contributed two goals each.

Will Sheppard scored the lone goal for Trinity (2-1).

Goffstown 13, Merrimack 8: Goffstown (1-1) defeated Merrimack (2-3) behind five goals and three assists from Jack Carney. Matt Coburn scored three goals for Merrimack.

Girls' lacrosse

Bishop Guertin 20, Dover 4: In Nashua, BG (4-0) was led by Averi Farhat with five goals and three assists. Kyra Lowenberg tallied four goals.

Derryfield 19, Pelham 5: Polly Carter led the Cougars (3-0) with five goals and three assists. Madi Kochanek added four goals and three assists and Brynn Polgrean collected four goals. Emma Garfield added two goals in the win. Brooke Paradis led Pelham with two goals.

Notre Dame (Hingham, Mass.) 12, Souhegan 6: At UMass-Lowell, Mickenzie Larivee led the Sabers with three goals. Madison Learned and Olivia Durling each had two goals. Jesse Jay and Jocelyn Donohue each netted a goal.
