WINCHESTER -- Two people were hospitalized Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of routes 119, 10 and 78.
According to police, at 12:37 p.m., a 2010 Hyundai driven by Krystal Englehardt, 50, of Ashuelot, a village of Winchester, was struck by a 2006 Ford E350 box truck driven by Gary Wakefield, 52, Moultonborough.
The crash is still under investigation, but it appears it was caused by Wakefield's failure to yield to Englehardt, according to Winchester Police Lt. Christopher Roberts. Wakefield was traveling on Route 119 towards Keene. He told police he saw the Hyundai, but thought it was turning the same direction as him and that he would turn and be following behind it, Roberts said.
"He was coming up Route 119 and turned into Englehardt," Roberts said. "He thought she was turning on Keene Road."
Englehardt and her passenger, Corey Tedford, 24, also of Ashuelot were taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene with non-life threatening injuries, Roberts said.
It appears Englehardt and Tedford were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and had injuries from striking the windshield.
Wakefield and a 30-year-old Keene woman who was a back seat passenger in the Hyundai were not transported.
