DUI, child endangerment charges for Manchester woman

MANCHESTER — A Manchester woman faces charges of impaired driving and child endangerment, after a New Hampshire State Police trooper spotted her driving erratically last Thursday, state police said.

Ashley E. Cowette, 27, had two children — a 5-month old and a 4-year old — in the back seat of her 2009 Honda Accord when it was pulled over on South Beech Street, police said. Police had initially observed her on Interstate 293.

At a state police barracks, Cowette was tested by a drug recognition expert and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of drugs. Her children were transferred to a family friend, and Cowette was later released on bail.

She is scheduled to appear in Manchester District Court on May 12.
