Keene woman's death in February now ruled a homicide

KEENE - A woman found dead inside her Lee Street home in February was the victim of a homicide, Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Keene Police Chief Kenneth J. Meola announced in a joint new release issued Wednesday.

Katherine Churchill, 52, was found dead on Feb. 4 inside her 16 Lee St. apartment. Based on the evidence at the time, investigators initially believed Churchill died as a result of a possible drug overdose.

Nonetheless, Keene police opened an investigation into her death.

On Feb. 5, an autopsy was done on her body and samples taken were sent out for toxicological testing. Subsequently, New Hampshire Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval determined Churchill was a homicide victim.

Authorities did not disclose how that determination was made or how Churchill died.

The circumstances surrounding Churchill's death continue to be investigated.

Anyone with information regarding Churchill or her death is asked to call police at 357-9820 or, to remain anonymous, leave a tip at http://www.ci.keene.nh.us/departments/police/anonymous-crime-tips.
