NH foreclosures down in the first quarter

The number of New Hampshire foreclosure deeds was down in the first quarter of 2014, according to data compiled by the NH Housing Finance Authority (NHHFA), leading the organization to report that it believes the state’s long-term foreclosure picture will continue to improve.

The first three months’ cumulative activity was below that of all years since 2007, and is 21 percent below last year’s first quarter.

“In a continuation of the decline from 2012 to 2013, 2014 can be expected to record a 20-plus percent drop in foreclosure deeds,” the NHHFA report said.

As for March-only, the 215 recorded foreclosure deeds reflect a decrease of 6 percent from those recorded in February, and a 22 percent decrease from foreclosure deeds in March of 2013.
