Pelham man flown to Boston hospital after moped accident
PELHAM – Police are investigating a moped crash that injured a local man early Thursday morning on Marsh Road.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, police and fire departments responded to the moped crash on Marsh Road by Scotland Road.
When police officers got to the site of the crash, they found a semi-conscious man lying in the road next to a Honda Ruckus moped, according to police Lt. Brian McCarthy.
The moped's driver, 22-year-old Corey Reilly of Pelham, had a serious head injury from being thrown from the moped and hitting his head on the pavement, according to police.
Reilly was evaluated by the fire department and later flown by Med-flight to Boston for treatment of his injuries.
There were no passengers on the moped and no other vehicles were involved in the accident, according to McCarthy. The crash remains under investigation by police, however speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
Reilly was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.
