Kingston woman dies after motorcycle crash in Derry
DERRY — A Kingston woman died Sunday afternoon from injuries she received in a motorcycle crash on Rockingham Road, Derry police said.
Emily Savoie, 26, of 3 Hemlock Road, Kingston, died from injuries in the crash that occurred near Rockingham Acres Nursery, Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas said Monday in a news release.
Savoie was a passenger on the motorcycle that was driven by Joshua Flibotte, 27, 3 Hemlock Road, Kingston. Savoie was ejected from the motorcycle and was seriously injured, Thomas said.
She was taken by ambulance to Parkland Medical Center, where she died a short time later from her injuries, Thomas said.
Flibotte was also taken to Parkland for treatment of minor injuries, Thomas said.
Police received a report of a motorcycle crash on Rockingham Road at 3:41 p.m. and responded to the scene. Upon arrival they found a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle on its side in the road.
The department’s Accident Reconstruction Team was called to scene, and after an investigation, it appears that Flibotte was travelling southbound on Rockingham Road when he lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to stop in traffic, according to police. Neither rider was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. Alcohol and high speed do not appear to be factors in the incident, Thomas said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one else was injured. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing, Thomas said.
After the crash, Derry police closed Rockingham Road and detoured traffic for about four hours while the department’s Accident Reconstruction Team conducted an investigation, Thomas said.
