Man stabbed in Manchester is recovering after surgery

MANCHESTER — A 22-year-old Bedford man is recovering at Elliot Hospital after having surgery to repair injuries from stab wounds suffered Monday night in a vehicle near a South Willow Street restaurant.

The victim, who police declined to identify, sustained wounds to the torso that police described as life-threatening. He was in the Mesa Steakhouse Restaurant, 1707 South Willow St., when police arrived at about 7:10 p.m. Monday and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Police spokesperson Lt. Maureen Tessier Tuesday said preliminary information indicates the victim was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle parked in a nearby lot and was stabbed by the driver after a dispute.

Police would not not say why the victim was in the vehicle, what prompted the dispute or what the relationship was between the two men. Police would only describe the suspect as male, about 5-foot-10, with short black hair and “scruffy” facial hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and red shorts and was driving an older, dark blue Toyota.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Manchester Police at 668-8711. Anonymous tips for cash rewards can be made through Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040 or manchestercrimeline.org.
