Phils hand Fisher Cats their third straight loss

New Hampshire led in the second inning on Gabe Jacobo’s solo homer to left field.
After a walk to Kenny Wilson, Reading reliever Ryan O’Sullivan replaced starter Perci Garner. Nashua’s Kevin Nolan greeted O’Sullivan with a single to left, loading the bases for Ryan Schimpf, who scored Rankin with a sacrifice fly to center.
Garner, on 112 pitches (55 for balls), allowed three hits and was charged for both runs. He walked six and fanned six. New Hampshire starter Aaron Sanchez pitched five innings. He allowed two hits, two runs and walked four. On 87 pitches, 51 for strikes, Sanchez fanned four.
Losers of three straight games and seven of its last 10, New Hampshire sends righty Deck McGuire (3-4, 3.40) to the hill in today’s 10:35 a.m. start. The Fisher Cats are idle Thursday before resuming their homestand with three games against Binghamton beginning Friday at 6:35 p.m.
