NHTI eliminated from softball Series
New Hampshire Technical Institute was eliminated from the USCAA Softball Small College World Series after a 4-1 loss to Penn State Mont Alto on Tuesday in Akron, Ohio.
Earlier in the day, the Lynx had stayed alive in the tournament with a 5-4 win over Penn State Hazelton.
Leading the way from the plate for the Lynx against Penn Statt Mont Alto were Joardyn Douillette and Kasie Tucker, who were both 2-for-3 with a double each. Tucker scored the only run of the game for the Lynx.
From the circle, Lindsey Hampson got the loss. She went 4 2/3 innings, giving up all four runs, two earned, and eight hits.
With the loss, the Lynx finished their season 26-13-1 .
In the win over Penn State Hazelton, Sahara Brown (Barnstead) singld to drove in Hampson (Manchester Central) with the winning run.
Manchester’s Tori Lemay (Memorial) got the win by pitching a complete game, allowing six hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out 16.
Former Manchester Central star Alex Pellerin was 2-for-5, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Cassie Camire (Farmington) was 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Kayla Comeau (Farmington), Brown and Tucker (Bow) also had two hits apiece to lead the Lynx.
