Police seek help locating those who hit bus shelter with cinder block

CONCORD – Concord police are seeking help finding the person or persons who dropped a cinder block on a city bus stop shelter at North Main and Park streets early Wednesday morning.

Police said a man was sleeping in the shelter when the block was thrown or dropped from a nearby rooftop. The man escaped injury, but the shelter roof, frame and benches inside were damaged. He told police the incident happened around 3 a.m. A loud crash woke him, and even though he was not hit, his jacket and blanket were covered in bits of concrete.

Police believe the block was dropped or thrown from the roof of 4 Park St. and that there may have been as many as three people who used the fire escape to get on the roof. Police say one of the three may have been a female, and one was barefoot.
