Sen. Ayotte to lead mission to observe Ukraine’s presidential election
Washington, D.C. — The International Republican Institute announced that U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., will lead its delegation to observe Ukraine’s May 25 presidential election, as well as mayoral elections in some cities.
Ayotte will be joined by U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., and Mark Green, president of IRI.
The election will see Ukraine choose a new president following months of protests supporting closer ties with Europe, former-President Viktor Yanukovych abandoning the presidency and months of Russian provocations and threats. Delegates will travel to Ukraine to monitor voting and ballot counting throughout the country.
Following the voting, IRI will issue a statement on the findings of the delegation.
