Auburn Memorial Day Bazaar to be held Sunday
AUBURN — Auburn residents will have the opportunity Sunday to celebrate the unofficial beginning of summer a day early.
For the sixth-straight year, the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department teams with the Auburn Moms’ Club to host a Memorial Day Bazaar. This year’s event begins at 3 p.m. at Wayne Eddows Memorial Fields and culminates with a professional pyrotechnics display from Hooksett Fireworks.
“It’s basically a town event, even though we do get a lot of out-of-towners, especially from Derry and Manchester,” said Helen Hiltz, program director for the Auburn Parks & Recreation Commission.
The day, she said, includes bouncy houses, face painting, a hands-on “Reptiles on the Move” exhibit, a traveling barnyard, a fire department touch-a-truck, novelty vendors and food.
“Everybody comes out with their lawn chairs for the day, and the parents let the kids enjoy themselves,” said Hiltz. “It’s definitely a community event that brings a lot of different organizations together to create a fun-filled day that a lot of people come to because it’s a small town event, as opposed to something, say the Manchester fireworks, that has a lot more people.”
A $2 donation is requested, but not required, for the Auburn Moms’ Club, which helps keep the town’s parks and recreation areas clean and maintained.
