NHIAA Roundup: Parece’s pitching powers Pelham

Senior righty Jordan Parece scattered three hits, walked none and fanned six in a route-going performance, leading Pelham to a 4-1 softball victory over Raymond on Tuesday in Pelham.

Hannah Paitchel delivered the key hit, a two-run homer over the left field fence in the sixth inning. Kelsey Grimard had a single and double and an RBI for the Pythons (8-4). Julia Barsalou added a run-scoring single. Raymond dropped to 8-5.

Baseball

Belmont, Mass. 8, Salem 4: In the loss for Salem, Mitch Dufton drove in two runs.

C. J. Beaulieu, Dufton and Kyle Nagri each had one hit.

Boys’ lacrosse

Bishop Guertin 16, Souhegan 6: On Monday, the Cardinals improved to 14-1 overall, thanks to three goals each by Nick Prunier, Tom Hurley and John Miller. Connor Donahue added two goals and six assists, and Dom St. Laurent scored two goals and added three assists. Jack McNallen and Dillon Hayes combined to win 19 of 25 faceoffs.

BG outscored the Sabers 7-0 in the second quarter to take command.

Souhegan dropped to 9-5 in Division I.

Nashua South 10, Salem 8: Russell Applegate scored four goals and assisted on another, and Steve Saucier scored two and helped on four for the Panthers (4-9).

Also scoring goals for South were Zach Anzel (2), Max Serra and Collin Morrow. Brian McKinley made 23 saves. Jake Burns and Tim Craig led Salem (4-10) with two goals apiece. Goalie Evan Fair made 16 saves.

Trinity 19, Windham 7: In Manchester, Will Towner scored five goals and added three assists, and Tyler Tambouris notched four goals and three assists to lead the Pioneers.

Jacob Elred (four goals, one assist), Will Sheppard (two goals, three assists) and Matt Beals (three goals) also contributed for the winners (9-2). Trinity’s Austin Kolden stopped 11 shots. Windham is 4-8.

Plymouth 3, John Stark 2: In Weare, the Generals pulled within 3-2 on a James Smugereski goal with 32 seconds remaining, but could get no closer to unbeaten Plymouth (11-0).

Brody Fredericks also scored for John Stark, and Matt Richard assisted both markers. Goalie August Colburn made 14 saves.

Zac Hamilton played well defensively, and Terry Zervos led the Generals (8-3) with seven ground balls.

Pembroke 12, Bishop Brady 9: In Concord, Kam Anderson scored six goals, Glenn Dion added four (and three assists).

Nick Berube earned his second win by making eight saves on nine shots. The Spartans improved to 5-6, while Bishop Brady dropped to 4-7.
