Bedford parking ban hearing moved to June 11
BEDFORD — A public hearing originally scheduled for May 28 to consider a parking ban for Chestnut Drive has been moved to June 11.
Police Chief John Bryfonski, chairman of the Highway Safety Committee, suggested making the change to the existing ordinance.
“Our concern in proposing that prohibition for parking is to ensure there is a clear passageway for public safety vehicles on Chestnut,” Bryfonski said.
He has counted as many as 25 to 30 vehicles on the road, making it difficult to get around the area near Bedford High School. The congestion is largely due to student parking, Bryfonski said. Ample business parking is available in the commercial property area.
Input will be taken at the public hearing during the June 11 Town Council meeting. After discussing the proposal, councilors will have the option to agree with or modify the amendment.
