Driver injured in crash after car's brakes fail

MERRIMACK — A driver suffered minor injuries when, to avoid colliding with other cars after his brakes failed, he took evasive action and crashed into a telephone pole on Daniel Webster Highway, near Greeley Street.

Wade Methe, 23, of 7A Ridge St., Nashua, was treated at the scene.

A preliminary investigation, police said, determined Methe was driving north on Daniel Webster Highway, approaching the traffic light at the intersection with Greeley Street in the left turn lane, when the brakes failed on his 1996 Subaru Legacy.

Methe, to avoid colliding with vehicles in front of him, crossed over three northbound lanes. As a result, however, his car jumped a curb and crashed into a telephone pole. His air bag was activated in the crash.
