GOFFSTOWN — Choirs from Belmont High School, Goffstown High School and Manchester High School West will join in a Collaborative Choral Concert at 3 p.m. on May 23 at St. Anselm College’s Abbey Church.
The choirs will each perform a few pieces from their repertoire and then the schools will sing three pieces together.
The school choirs will be joined by “Some Friends,” a chamber vocal group from Wolfeboro and also by members of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Goffstown.
The event is organized by Scott Lounsbury, choral director at Belmont High School, to give students exposure to the acoustic gem that is the Abbey Church.
He has invited colleagues Joshua Desrochers (Goffstown High School) and Susan Wilkes (Manchester High School West) to collaborate. Desrochers and Lounsbury have both invited their adult choirs to participate as examples to students that “singing can continue after high school.”
“This has become my favorite event of the school year” says Desrochers. “The acoustics at this church are what my students and I look forward to throughout the year, thinking about how various pieces will sound in that space.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
