This week's rare bird alert

This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Monday, May 19.

Twenty-two white-winged scoters were seen on Lake Massabesic in Auburn, and two were seen on Powdermill Pond in Hancock, all on May 16.

An Iceland gull was seen in Rockingham Park in Salem, and a laughing gull was seen along the coast in Rye, both on May 17.

There was an unconfirmed report of a worm-eating warbler in Peterborough on May 17.

A mourning warbler was seen in Salem on May 18 and 19, and one was reported from Durham on the 19.

A Cape May warbler was seen in Penacook, and two Tennessee warblers were reported from Rumney, all on May 18.

Several blue-winged warblers were reported during the past week, including seven at Southwest Park in Nashua on May 18.

A few Eastern wood-pewees, Alder flycatchers and willow flycatchers have arrived at last from their wintering grounds during the past week.

A pair of black-backed woodpeckers was seen along Trudeau Road in Bethlehem on May 17.

A pair of evening grosbeaks was seen in New London on May 16.

A sora was heard at a marsh in Canterbury, and one was heard at a marsh in Salem, both on May 17.

There were several reports of common nighthawks and Eastern whip-poor-wills during the past week.
