Concord: State’s views on pension cases correct
The contract between public employer and employee guarantees that the promised benefit, the pension payment received upon retirement, will be received. It does not, the state’s attorney argued, guarantee that during the 20- or 30-year length of employment the price the employee pays to receive that benefit can never be changed. The state’s position, we believe, is the correct one.
