Vermont man charged in road rage incident in Lebanon


LEBANON — Police arrested a Vermont man Wednesday morning for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman on Mechanic Street in a reported road rage incident.

The woman, who was not identified in a news release, called police about 7:50 a.m. to report a man, driving a Vermont registered vehicle, had tailgated her and then pulled out a gun.

Police found the vehicle and identified the driver as Nicholas J. Downey, 25, of Wilder, Vt. Officers found a handgun in his vehicle and arrested him for criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, a class B felony.

He is free on $5,000 bail with a June 30 arraignment in 2nd Circuit Court, Lebanon District Division.
