Loeb School Hosting Police-Media Relations Workshop

MANCHESTER -- The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications is presenting a Police-Media Workshop on July 9, 2014. The all-day workshop is designed for police officials who interact with the media.

With presenters including the Attorney General's Office, the media, a noted media attorney and a respected police Public Information Officer, the session covers everything from the state Right-to-Know Law to preparing news releases.

The workshop is being held at the school, 749 E. Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, from 9 am to 3 pm. The registration fee of $50 includes lunch.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery Strelzin and media attorney Gregory Sullivan, from Malloy & Sullivan, Lawyers Professional Corporation, will address the First Amendment and Right to Know Law, including what information can and should be released.

Mark Fowke, former Manchester Police Public Information Officer and current special instructor in Public Information at the NH Fire Academy, will discuss compiling media information, writing news releases and preparing for news conferences or media interviews.

A panel of New Hampshire journalists will join officers in a discussion about media coverage and building and maintaining relations between police and the media. Officers and the media panel also will role-play police-media scenarios.

To register, call 627-0005 or go to www.loebschool.org.
