DANVILLE — A Stratham woman suffered a serious injury to a leg when she crashed a dirt bike Saturday afternoon in Danville.
According to New Hampshire Fish and Game Lt. James Juneau, the woman, 34, whose name was not released Sunday, was riding dirt bikes with her husband along the Rockingham Recreational Trail in Danville around 2:30 p.m. Saturday when the woman lost control of the bike she was operating and crashed. The woman suffered a serious leg injury, and was transported by ambulance to Exeter Hospital for treatment.
Emergency personnel from Danville Fire and Rescue, Trinity Ambulance, and police officers from Fremont, Sandown and Danville responded to the accident scene.
New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officer Chris McKee said early indications are that sandy trail conditions, coupled with inexperienced dirt bike operators, were contributing factors in the accident. Speed and alcohol are not believed to have played a part.
The injured woman was reportedly wearing a helmet, goggles and other protective gear when the bike crash occurred.
