Police say Nashua emergency call may have been 'swatting' hoax

NASHUA — The Nashua Police Department converged on a city neighborhood Monday evening for what authorities believe may have been a “swatting” hoax.

Police received an emergency call for a report of shots being fired on Donna Street, with at least one male victim.

The department’s SWAT team, along with an armored BearCat vehicle, responded. Although nothing suspicious was found, a significant amount of manpower was used to investigate what police say was likely a hoax. A similar incident took place in the same neighborhood about a year ago, police said.

Police Chief John Seusing said Monday that if the person responsible is identified and can be charged with providing a false report, restitution may be a part of the legal process.

“They would certainly be charged accordingly,” he said.
