Police blocked off a small road at the southern edge of Kensington this afternoon, and a massive search appears to be underway.
Highland Road, which is off Route 107, was shut down about 4 p.m., said Laura Haase, a bookkeeper at James R. Rosencrantz & Son, a farm equipment dealer on Route 107.
She said four cars of Highland Road homeowners were parked in the business’ driveway, as homeowners waited for a police go-ahead to get home.
"The cops are not letting them down the road," Haase said. "I heard something about a guy with a gun walking around."
She said helicopters and police search planes are overhead. Her boss has spoken to the homeowners, who told her about the search.
She said farms and some houses are located off Highland Road, as well as power lines and an area with trails.
New Hampshire State Police said they could give no details on what is happening.
