MANCHESTER — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who snatched the purse of a 74-year-old woman standing outside her apartment building on South Porter Street last month.

The May 26 robbery was recorded by Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority’s video surveillance. On Wednesday, the MHRA provided police with a photograph of the robber taken from it.

Police said the woman was standing outside her 750 South Porter St. apartment building talking to a friend when a man walked up to her, snatched her purse and ran off with it. The purse contained about $90, the woman’s driver’s license and a bank card.

The robbery happened so quickly the woman was unable to describe the thief, according to authorities.

Police said the photograph is of a thin, white male dressed in all dark clothing wearing a ski mask. An unknown neon green item is attached to his left hip.

Anyone with information about who committed the robbery is asked to call detectives at 668-8711.
