Shea-Porter in France to commemorate D-Day’s 70th

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, D-N.H., a member of the House Armed Services Committee, is in Normandy, France, today to mark the 70th anniversary of the Allied Invasion on D-Day, June 6, 1944.She is part of a congressional delegation, which includes both Senate and House members from both parties and which includes the House committee's chairman, U.S. Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Calif., that is recognizing the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the American and Allied forces who helped liberate Europe during World War II.Shea-Porter will attend ceremonies at Omaha Beach, Sword Beach and the Normandy American Cemetery.President Barack Obama and French President Francois Hollande will join the delegation today for ceremonies in Normandy involving paratroopers, veterans and children.The congresswoman will report back in blog posts at and will post photos on Facebook and Twitter.
