NHIAA Boys' Lacrosse Tournament: Pinkerton tops Londonderry

DERRY — Jake Lisaukas and Sean Delea scored three goals each to lead No. 2 seed Pinkerton Academy to a 13-6 win over No. 7 Londonderry Thursday in a Division I quarterfinal boys’ lacrosse game.

The Astros advanced to play Exeter in the semifinals on Sunday at Bedford High School. The Lancers finished their season 10-8.

Along with Lisaukas and Delea, James Tuhey had two goals and two assists for the Astros. Nick Yannaco was the top scorer for Londonderry with a goal and two assists.

It was a physical and penalty filled game with the Astros getting most of the flags — a fact that didn’t sit well with coach Brian O’Reilly. “The bottom line is we won and are moving on, but did we play well? We did not.”

“We had 15 penalties and they had 3,” said O’Reilly. “It was ugly. We played defense the entire game, which takes the ball away from our offense.”

“We have to learn to back off when the flags are flying,” said O’Reilly. “You have to adjust your game to what’s being called. We didn’t make those adjustments.”

Even with the man advantage, Londonderry could rarely capitalize. “It’s definitely frustrating when you get those opportunities and you don’t capitalize on them,” said Lancers coach Joe McCune. “To be honest, we’re a little banged up.”

McCune roster was missing six players due to concussions.
