Hopkinton's Michael Alberici will bring 'Sound in Focus' to 15 NH schools

June 07. 2014 7:56PM

THE NEW HAMPSHIRE Charitable Foundation has chosen Michael Alberici to receive this year's Christa McAuliffe Sabbatical Award.

Alberici has taught in the Hopkinton School District for 21 years and is currently teaching music at the Maple Street School in Contoocook, NH.

During his sabbatical, Alberici will be designing a residency project that travels to fifteen elementary schools in New Hampshire to teach students about the scientific properties of sound and how to become better listeners. He has titled his program Sound in Focus.

Each school residency will last three to four days and will include twelve one-hour classroom sessions and a one-hour all school assembly that teaches the science of sound through high tech experiments that illustrate six concepts of sound.
