BRENTWOOD — A pair of alleged burglars left behind evidence at a Middle Road home on Friday afternoon that quickly caught up with them down the road, according to police.

The break-in at 171 Middle Road was interrupted shortly before 2:18 p.m. when the homeowner returned to her house, police said. She told police that the two alleged burglars fled in a green Honda Civic that clipped her vehicle as it sped out of the driveway.

Ryan Grimes, 22, of Stratham and Chelsea Holloway-Stanley, 21, of Brentwood were pulled over moments later by a deputy sheriff on Deer Hill Road, police said. The pair was arraigned Monday on burglary and other charges in 10th Circuit Court, Brentwood Division.

Moments after the Civic’s license plate was broadcast over the county’s dispatch system, a deputy sheriff pulled over the car, and “confirmed that the driver’s side mirror was missing and he could see it in the car,” Brentwood police Lt. David Roy responded said in a sworn affidavit.

The homeowner’s white car was marked with green paint where it was damaged, police said.

Grimes and Holloway-Stanley were later identified by their clothes, which matched the homeowner’s description of the burglars, police said.

The police found the home in disarray when they went inside.

“We discovered their flat screen Emerson TV on her bedroom floor. It was pulled from the chimney where it was mounted,” Roy said in the affidavit. “The cable box and other electronic items were hanging from their location with wires still attached.”

The homeowner was not sure if some jewelry and medication was missing, “but it was clear that these items had been rummaged through,” Roy said in the affidavit.

When police patted down Grimes, “an Emerson TV remote was found in his pocket along with syringes,” Roy said. “One of the syringes appears to be loaded with an unknown liquid.”

Grimes also faced a charge of conduct after an accident for striking the homeowner’s vehicle. Holloway-Stanley was also charged with delivery of articles prohibited and possession of a controlled drug.
