Bruzzese resigns as executive director of Derry Chamber

DERRY — After nearly two years at the helm, Stacey Bruzzese has resigned as executive director of the Greater Derry-Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber announced Tuesday.

Bruzzese submitted her letter of resignation to Bonnie Roberts, president of the Chamber’s board of directors, late last week and is leaving to pursue another career opportunity, the Chamber said in a news release.

“I have enjoyed every moment with this Chamber, working with local business owners in the Greater Derry-Londonderry area in my nearly two-year tenure,” Bruzzese said. “I would like to thank the board and our entire membership for their support. While it is not an easy decision for me to leave, I have been presented with an incredible opportunity for me and my family."
The details of the new career opportunity were not revealed in the release. The Chamber said it will conduct a search for her replacement over the next several weeks.

Roberts said Tuesday Bruzzese will be missed.
“I’m sorry to see her go; we are bidding her a fond farewell,” Roberts said. “She has been a great advocate for our Chamber and a great friend.”

Bruzzese joined the Chamber as executive director in September 2012. During her time at the helm, the Chamber saw a resurgence in membership and participation throughout the business community, as well as the development of many successful new programs and initiatives, the release said.
Passionate about small business, Bruzzese worked diligently to create multiple opportunities for members and the business community to come together to support one another in professional growth, business success and long-lasting networks, according to the release. Additionally, a new training program for female executives, a young professional network and the creation of both a health and wellness and a business expo were achieved during her tenure.

Bruzzese was also instrumental in rebranding the Chamber as the “Voice of Business” in the greater Derry-Londonderry region and establishing working relationships with administrators from the towns of Derry, Londonderry and Windham, according to the release.

Bruzzese will work with the Chamber over the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition to a new executive director, Roberts said.
The board has appointed a search committee that will identify and interview qualified candidates. Those interested in the position can send their resume to the Chamber at
