Manchester police investigate shooting

Police said one person was shot Wednesday night in the vicinity of an apartment building at the corner of Maple and Amherst streets.

Sgt. Stacy Howe said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. The injuries are not life-threatening, he said.

John Mannion, who lives in an apartment building on Maple Street, said he heard the gunshot.

"I was playing video games, and I heard what sounded like a firecracker going off," he said. "Just one pop and that was it."
