NHIAA D-IV Softball: Portsmouth Christian, Wilton-Lyndeborough in final

PLYMOUTH — It will be Portsmouth Christian against Wilton-Lyndeborough in Saturday’s Division IV softball final at Plymouth State University.

The Eagles shocked defending champion Woodsville, 13-1, Wednesday to punch their ticket to the final.

In the early semifinal, Wilton-Lyndeborough overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat Sunapee, 6-2.

Kimmie Edmunds went 2-for-4 and Sara Holka had a triple to lead second-seeded Wilton-Lyndeborough.

Holka pitched a complete game for the Warriors and allowed just two runs on four hits and five walks.

The Lakers struck first with a leadoff home run by Rachel Malanga on her first at bat and and scored again to take a 2-0 lead.

But three straight errors in the bottom of the first allowed the Warriors to tie it, 2-2. Wilton-Lyndeborough scored twice in the third and in the fourth innings to win it 6-2.

Sunapee ended 15-4.

Portsmouth Christian’s Danielle Brashear struck out 11 and went 2-for-3 .
